Victorian ring holder

A beautiful piece to work on and a gift to a special stitching sister.  I loved stitching this particular piece, the little button unhooks and it is supposed to hang off the bed post and hold rings and such at night time.  A vintage victorian tradition.

Miniature tree toppers or mantel angels.

A picture of angels that will sit on top of a tree and or mantel.  I made six of these assembly line style.  I used the smaller head and hands that are available readily at craft and sewing stores.

I chose to use thread cones from serger thread as the base as they are sturdy.  Small plastic soda pop bottles will work as well, but are not as sturdy unless using for display on mantel as you can weight the bottle with rice or sand.

Wings are made of gold ribbon, the halo is beaded and the back has long ribbons hanging down.

The underskirt is cotton and has a deep six inch hem with a casing at the top to pull tightly around the base of the doll head.

Arms are done with sections of lace gathered at both ends and added to the shoulders.  Arms are on white fluffy pipe cleaners and gathered at wrist with ribbons.

Skirt is gathered lace and a header of lace with a casing is added at the top so that it can be ruffled at the bodice.

Small flowers and a long streamer of fine ribbon hang down the front.  These are adorable fnished.

Baby Items Donated VRH

The blue set at the top is a five hour baby set in baby blue.  Love knitting this design.  The white christening gown on the doll on the left is an original design handsewn with very wide lace fabric.  I will try and photo a picture of this one. The blanket is another original done for the hospital and donated.  This uses the same size needles as the sweater and has eyelets in other words. yarn over knit two together every six garter stitch rows.  This is knit like the face cloth pattern only used double stand of worsted weight yarn.  Beautiful when done.  The little barbie style doll on the right is dressed in a handmade wedding gown with silk ribbon embroidered beaded collar and lace work, a train falls down the back.  It is the only one made to date by me.

Initial needlecase

Book style silk ribbon work needle case designed and given as a gift to an online friend.  The ribbons hold scissors and seperate the needle felt pages.  It is tied closed with silkribbon ties as well.

Art Bra block donation

One of the blocks I designed and stitched for the art bra quilt that was sponsored by Ribbonsmyth in aid of breast cancer.  A quilt is designed each year to accompany the art bras.

Inspirations Purse on linen a gift for a friend.

This was an embroidery design done in threads etc. in an Inspirations magazine that I converted to thread and ribbon.  I did the embroidery on linen and backed it. I made the purse out of matching linen and eyelet linen.  It turned out well and was sent to Oregon to a friend as a gift.  I truly enjoyed working on this project.

Pretty in PInk - 5 Hour Baby Sweater VRH Baby Ward

I  loved knitting this sweater set and did so using worsted weight wool and the pattern on line for the five hour baby sweater.  I then used the same size needles and used double worsted wool and same size needle and made a blanket to match using the dishcloth method of knitting corner to corner.  I used the basic dish cloth pattern and then after  about twelve ' holes ' on each side, added a row where I knit 2 togther across and then went back to garter stitch. for another ten rows........then knit stocking stitch for abo ten rows, then garter stitch ten rows, eyelet rows garter stitch and stocking stitch.  I then repeated the pattern in the rows of decreasing and it finished with two little bows in each side.  It was adorable.  This was donated to Valley Regional Hospital babies ward.  I will write and add a proper pattern in the next few weeks.
